Roof fire kept small by fast action

The fire company was dispatched to 490 Almshouse Road at 11:29 PM on January 16, 2015. On arrival, Deputy 19 Mike Wood had a 2 story dwelling with fire showing from the roof, and the homeowner knocking down the fire. The cedar-shake roof caught fire in the area of the chimney, and on leaving the home to drive a guest home, saw the fire. He raised a ladder to the roof and controlled the small fire with an extinguisher. Members of the fire company checked for any extension with thermal imaging cameras.
