Midway calls for mutual aid for Peddlers Village building fire

On Tuesday December 20, 2016, Rescue 19 and Engine 19-1 were dispatched on Box 5-52, The Nut Kettle at Peddlers Village on Rt 202 in Lahaska. On arrival, Assistant Chief 5, Tom Benscoter, arrived on location and reported heavy fire showing. Rescue 19 was dispatched as the RIT team, and Engine 19-1 to the scene for manpower.  Members assisted with overhaul and ventilation. There were no injuries.

Our Young Citizens Award winners!

Rachel Loux, Left and Nick Tartaglia, with their awards.

Congratulations to firefighters Rachel Loux and Nick Tartaglia for their selection as 2016 Young Citizens Award winners, through the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. Rachel is a freshman at Bucks Community College, and Nick a senior at CB West. Rachel has grown up in the company, as she is a third-generation Loux to serve, along with her late grandfather Denny Sr. her father Denny, mother Donna, sister Rebecca and uncle Ed. Nick has been with the company for just over a year and has made an impact with his hard work and positive attitude. They are part of a growing group of young members volunteering their time serving the Doylestown community.

Cold night training in an ice house

December 14, 2016 was a cold night with a full moon.┬áMembers were at the old Gross’ Gourmet Chicken Ice House training on power saws, breaching and overhaul. Thanks to the Thompson Organization for once again allowing us to use a structure for training before demolition.
