On October 24, 2007, The
Doylestown Fire Company took part in a welcome back
convoy put together to honor one of our nation's
bravest returning home from the war in Iraq. The
event was sponsored by the Patriot Guard Riders (more
info here) and welcomed home US Marine Cpl Chris
Mowery of Doylestown. Although the weather was less
than perfect, over 100 motorcycle riders toughed out
the rain and were present when Cpl Mowery arrived in
Philadelphia. The convoy's route of travel was from
the Philadelphia International Airport north on
Interstate 95, to Street Road, and then into
Doylestown. The convoy had the entire highway, as
Philadelphia Highway Patrol and Bensalem Motor
Patrol closed the road from Philadelphia to
Doylestown. Other participants in the convoy was the
Doylestown Borough Fire Marshal's office, US Air
Force Civil Air Patrol from the Doylestown Airport,
Second Alarmers Rescue Squad from Montgomery County,
Philadelphia Police Department, and Philadelphia
Fire Department. Photos by Jamie Haddon.
