Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 held it’s annual fire
prevention open house at Station 19 on Shewell Ave.
on October 5, 2007. Over 500 people attended the
event, which was held in conjunction with First
Friday Doylestown, the monthly community event in
Doylestown borough. Kids and adults were treated to
tours of fire trucks using a fire hose to extinguish
a “house fire”, and trying on real fire gear. Kids
were able to get replica fire helmets fire safety
information, and free cookies and cider, compliments
of the fire company auxiliary. The Bucks County
Sheriff’s Department made ID cards for kids, the
Teddy Bear Clinic from Doylestown Hospital treated
stuffed friends boo-boo’s and parents were able to
get information from State Representative Marguerite
Quinn and the Public Safety Program at Middle Bucks
Tech School. Kids and parents got fire safety
lessons from firefighters in the fire company’s fire
safety house, too.
The first annual fire prevention poster contest
winners were announced at the event. Over 500
posters were received from the 4 elementary schools
in the fire company’s response area- Doyle, Kutz,
