2/21/2002
Box 19-13 was struck at 2309 for a building fire at 423 North Main St. in Doylestown Borough. Lieutenant 19, Paul Kreuter, arrived and found the porch roof fully involved and ordered all companies in service. Crews from Doylestown Engine 19 and Ladder 79, along with Plumsteadville Engine 20, made an aggressive interior attack and kept the fire from extending deeper into the 3 story, 35x60 office building. When firefighters from Warrington opened the roof, heavy fire and heat vented furiously and the order to evacuate was sounded. Ladder 79’s pipe was placed in service and knocked down the roof fire, and interior crews reengaged and extinguished the remaining pockets of fire. The building was empty at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries to firefighters. Doylestown recieved assistance from Plumsteadville, Warrington, Midway, Chalfont and Hartsville Fire Companies, and Central Bucks Ambulance.
Heavy fire on arrival had consumed the porch roof.
Deputy 19, Jay Fetterolf, checks out the progress of the fire early on.
Warrington firefighters ventilate the roof as Ladder 79's main is set to help them off.
