Schade's Little Store, September 19, 2003
Station 19 was dispatched to 135 Cottage Street for a report of a building fire at Schades Little Store at 1:50 PM on Friday, Sept. 19, 2002.Chief Mike Wood arrived on scene and found a medium smoke condition and ordered the first in engine to prepare to go in service. On further investigation, it was found to be a fire in the grill in ther rear of the store that had extended into the ventilation system. Quick work kept the damage contained to the grill and ventilation system, and the store was open to everything but cooked food in 2 hours. The members of the fire company are relieved the damage was limited, as Larry Schade is a very loyal friend to the fire company. There were no injuries.
