10/20/2005, Box 19-7, Newton House, 737 E. Butler Ave., New Britain Borough

Doylestown Fire Co. No. 1 was dispatched to a structure fire at the Newton House motel in New Britain Borough, PA. at 0523 hours on October 20, 2005. Police arriving on scene advised Bucks County Fire Radio of a working fire, and when Battalion 19, Ed Truman arrived, he confirmed on room of the motel with smoke showing, and ordered Engine 19 to hit the hydrant and prepare to go in service. Engine 19 arrived with Captain Jim Shepard, Lieutenant Bud Baughman, and firefighters Mike Wood and Pete Mills. Mills took the tip with Shepard and advanced a 2” line to the door of the room. Fire was through both windows when the crew attacked through the front door with the line. It took less than a minute to knock it down. Ladder 79 arrived to assist with ventilation and overhaul. The fire was placed under control by Chief Denny Loux, Jr., at 0543. Assisting were Chalfont, Warrington and Plumsteadville Fire Companies. Central Bucks Ambulance handled rehab. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
