In the afternoon of December
1, 2007, Doylestown Volunteers were dispatched to
Duane Road for a reported dwelling fire. Initial
reports indicated that the house was filled with
smoke and the resident thought his couch was on
fire. Deputy 19 Jay Fetterolf and Lt 19 Todd Kulp
were first on scene and confirmed a medium smoke
condition inside the house. After an initial
walkthrough, it was found a malfunctioning heater
was the cause for all the smoke. Ladder 79 arrived
and ventilated the house and crews isolated the
problem. This was a close call that if found a few
minutes later, could have ended quite differently.
