All Volunteer Stations, 19 & 79, Bucks County, PA

The Doylestown Fire Company was dispatched on the afternoon of April 15th, 2007 for a wires call on Hamilton and State Streets in Doylestown Borough. Initial reports were of smoke and fire coming from a manhole on the sidewalk. Chief 19 arrived on scene and confirmed a smoke condition in the area and upgraded the call to bring in additional apparatus. First arriving crews went to work checking surrounding buildings for fire extension and CO levels from the underground fire. A portion of State street was evacuated due to the rising CO levels found in some of the buildings in the immediate area. Peco was also on scene and secured the electricity for the area allowing the fire company to extinguish the fire. The company was on scene for two hours, although power in the area was out into the following morning while Peco made repairs. Photos by Larry Browne
