Volunteers from the Doylestown
Fire Company No. 1 were dispatched to a
confirmed building fire on the night of
January 5, 2009 to the 600 block of North
Main Street in Doylestown Borough for a fire
at the Thompson Rent-A-Car. Added to the
initial dispatch were firefighters from
Plumsteadville and Warrington as well. First
arriving units confirmed a well involved
garage with exposure concerns over the
buildings next to it. Engine 19 stretched a
hand line to the front of the building to
extinguish the fire. Crews from Ladder 79
and Tower 24 (Plumsteadville) worked to open
up the doors to gain access inside the
garage and Engine 79 checked for extension
into the exposure building. Rescue 29
(Warrington) was on scene to provide RIT.
Additional companies were on scene from
Chalfont and Midway to provide manpower.
Police were investigating the fire and had
two in custody for
causing the blaze with fireworks. Crews were
available within 2 hours and no injuries
were reported. Photos by Larry Browne,
Dorothy Kreuter, Denny Loux Sr, and Sara
