The Doylestown Fire Company # 1, incorporated in 1895 has served the community for over 100 years. The main service for many years was life safety, fire suppression and property preservation. Now that we are in the day of lock key children and single parent families we must do more. It is the intention of the   Doylestown fire company through the fire prevention unit to assist in:
“PRESERVING LIFE THROUGH FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION.”
For the last 10 years we have been a proactive fire safety educator. Beginning in the 90’s we added educational props to our unit, Spot T. Dog is a fully functional 4’ tall robot, who helps with the younger children by making fire safety fun. In 1995 with the help of the community and Doylestown shopping center owners association and a legislative grant from the state we purchased a Fire Safety House, that made fire safety education a hands on experience, by actually allowing the students to see hazards and what smoke does as it enters a room. This allows the student to experience in a controlled situation what the steps are to getting out of the house in an  emergency. We pledge to assist the community, young and old in fire safety education and how to deal wsith a fire emergency.
