Swamp Road rescue ends with an amazing result

Doylestown firefighter Ed Loux works with Warrington Deputy chief Joe Fuchs to get the driver out.

Doylestown firefighters were dispatched to a report of a car under a tractor/trailer at the intersection of Maple Ave. and Swamp Road on Tuesday, March 27 at 6:36 PM. Police on scene reported heavy entrapment, with the victim conscious and moving. Deputy 19, Mike Wood, arrived and ordered Rescue 19 to prepare to go in service with heavy spreaders and airbags. Engine 79’s crew was ordered to pull a protection line and handle hazards. Rescue 29 and 5 were special called, and medics from Central Bucks Ambulance requested a medevac chopper. The chopper landed on a nearby baseball field, and flight medics came to the scene. Deputy 19 requested an engine for the LZ. Companies used every type of tool to complete the extrication, including hydraulic rescue cutters, spreaders and rams.
After almost an hour of work, the driver was removed from the vehicle at 7:25 PM. She was flown to Temple University Trauma by Pennstar 6.
Plumsteadville Tower 24 was special called for scene photography.
