Delivery truck snags wires, starts fire and flood

9/2/13 – At 10:36am on Labor Day crews were dispatched to 34 Crestland Tr for a reported accident with fire.  Shortly after another call was received for wires arcing in the basement at 15 Broadale Ct.  Deputy 19 and Battalion 19 arrived on scene to medium smoke showing inside the residence and a delivery truck outside with wires down.  A fire was located in the kitchen in the area of the dishwasher.  E19 arrived and crews had to stretch a 300 foot hoseline to work around the energized wires. L79 assisted with the search and extinguishment.  The delivery drivers had self-extricated prior to arrival.  PECO secured power to the scene and the water department was called to secure water service due to a broken pipe in the fire building caused by the power surge.   Other units on scene included E19-1, E79, U79, E20, R29, L29, E15, and E95. Fire was contained to the kitchen of the dwelling with water damage to the basement due to the broken pipe.
