Crash requires extrication and medevac

The fire company was dispatched for Rescue Box 79-29 for a single vehicle crash with entrapment at Edison Furlong and Pebble Hill Roads at 9:45 PM on July 20, 2015. En route to the scene, Bucks County Fire Radio updated the location of the crash to be on Sugarbottom Road near Foy Drive. On arrival Deputy 19 Mike Wood reported a car in the woods with the driver, the sole occupant, trapped. Engine 79 and Rescue 19 arrived and went into service with hydraulic rescue tools and stabilization, as the vehicle was off the road and on the side of a hill. Central Bucks Ambulance was on scene with patient care as the extrication operation began. Warwick Fire Company assisted with the landing zone for the medevac helicopter at Bridge Valley Elementary.

Teamwork is key in an extrication, as cooperation between EMS and fire gets the job done and the patient cared for.


Storm brings down branches on power lines


On Thursday night, July 9, a violent storm rolled through the area, bringing high winds and heavy rains. After the storm had passed, the fire company was dispatched for a wires call in the 900 block of Almshouse Road in Doylestown Township. On arrival, Deputy Chief Mike Wood reported a large branch down on the power lines with a small fire. After searching the adjacent home and checking for extension, PECO Energy arrived on scene and secured the power. Warrington Fire Company also responded to the scene. There were no injuries or major damage.

Rescue 19 was dispatched as the RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) for the building fire on Box 15-2, 5071 Grundy Way, Buckingham Twp. Chief 5 had heavy fire on arrival, and Midway crews got a fast knock down on the fire. The crew from Rescue 19 monitored fireground safety and was ready to enter for firefighter rescue if needed. They were later placed in service to assist with extensive overhaul. This was the second working fire with Midway in 48 hours, as Ladder 79, Engine and Canteen 19 responded to 3783 E Brandon Way on 7/2.
