The Memorial Day weekend signals the unofficial start of summer for most of the area. In the case of the members of the fire company, it also brought the start of an unusually busy stretch for the all-volunteer membership of the company and surrounding area. Starting on Friday night, May 27, when the members responded to two mutual aid calls for assistance in Warminster and Plumstead Township, to the morning of June 7, activities and calls kept coming.
On May 28, the fire company displayed the colors from Ladder 79 and provided cooling support for the Discover Doylestown 5K race. On the 30th, the members marched and participated in Memorial Day observances. June 1 was our annual Old Timer’s Night, where friends old and new are invited to the firehouse for food and friendship. Early in the morning of June 5, the fire company and area mutual aid companies battled a 2-alarm fire at the Baliwick office park in Doylestown Township until after the sun rose. Monday night members responded to a dryer fire in a laundromat on North Main St. in Doylestown Borough, and Tuesday morning, June 7, a vehicle crash with fire in Doylestown Township in morning rush hour traffic along Rt 611.
Great work by all of our volunteers and mutual aid colleagues, as everyone went home safely. Let’s see what the rest of the summer has for us!
