On June 6, 2018, the annual Old Timers Night was held at the Shewell Ave. firehouse. The event is a night for members of the fire company to join with local community leaders and officials to relax, eat a great dinner prepared by members of the Doylestown Fire Company Auxiliary, and recognize members for efforts over the past year.
In addition, the acting State Fire Commissioner, Bruce Trego, attended and addressed the gathering. Trego was invited by State Representative Marguerite Quinn, who was also in attendance, along with numerous local and state officials. Before the event Trego met with Chiefs from are fire companies at Doylestown Borough hall. They discussed the challenges facing the volunteer companies in Pennsylvania, and what is on the horizon. Many long-time, but less active life members of the fire company attended, as well as some very young future members.
Members who were recognized at the annual banquet in April were again introduced. President’s award and Firefighter of the year Grant Castor, 50 year member John Cope, Chief’s award recipient Will Fluck, Rookie of the year Mike Kleban and new life members Jeff Kennedy, Peter Mills and Aaron Soldavin were highlighted again.
Local businesses were honored for their generosity and partnership with the fire company, including Kniese’s Plumbing.
Also, donations were received from the County of Bucks, Steely and Smith Insurance, and the Fire Company Auxiliary.
