Our third-generation scholarship winner!

Congratulations to the 2019 winner of the Francis X. Thomas scholarship winner, Junior Firefighter Tricia Shepard. Trish is a third generation Doylestown firefighter, following in the footsteps of her grandfather Jim, past Chief of the company, and father Jim, who is currently one of 2 battalion chiefs. Trish was presented the scholarship at the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce Emergency Services Awards banquet on October 27 by DFC Deputy Chief Ed Loux, who works with the Thomas family to give the $1000 scholarship to a deserving student in the Central Bucks Fire and EMS community through the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, where Trish is in the nursing program.

The Francis X. Thomas scholarship is presented by the Thomas family in the memory of Fran Thomas, who was a very active participant and supporter of the emergency services in Bucks County for many years.

Great weather and support! Thanks to everyone who came out to the fire prevention open house!

Checking out the new Engine 19!

Thank you to everyone who came out to the fire prevention open house on October 12! We enjoyed seeing our community that come out and learned a little and had lots of fun. Thanks to all of our members that volunteered their time to educate and entertain. Remember- every day is fire prevention day! Check your smoke detectors monthly and plan and practice a home escape plan regularly! We also want to thank the Bucks County Hazardous Response Team, Patrick Murphy from Bagel Barrel, Doylestown Fire Company Auxiliary, and the Bucks County BookFest. And the weather was great!

Deputy 19 Ed Loux tells some very cute unicorns about the Hahn engine he now owns with his brother Denny.
Firefighter Asher Mithoefer helps a future firefighter put out the “house fire”.
The Cat in the Hat approves of our Papa Bear on the new Engine 79!
Thanks to the Bucks County Hazardous Incident Team for bringing HazMat 89-3 and giving demonstrations of the very cool tools they have.

It’s Fire Prevention Week! Be a hero to your family!

It’s fire prevention week! For us, every day is fire prevention day- and we hope it is for everyone.
This year’s theme is How to make a Home Fire Escape plan.
When we meet with parents and kids, we often get embarrassed looks when we ask if families have plans and meeting places. We want to change this.
Make a plan.
Practice the plan.
Make a video of the practice and share it with #doylestownescapeplan and let us know- on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. We’re @dfc1979news on Twitter and Instagram.
We’ll share your video- help us teach others how to have a plan- and the best ones will get some special treats.
